High Tech's open house is October 18th at 1:00.

County Prep's open house is November 1st at 12:30

These schools are sister schools. My son graduated from County Prep in 2006 and now my daughter is a freshman there. Both of my children love County Prep. Both schools due not charge tuition and there are no uniforms. I'm not sure when High Techs applications are due but I know County Preps last years application was due the end of November. The guidence counselor at your school must submit the applications along with letters of recomendations and your childs reports. So make sure you keep on top of the guidence counselor. If you are considering either one of these schools I strongly recommend that you attend the open house. Last year when we went to County Prep's open house the line was up and around the block. So get there early. I couldn't be happier with the school. Although it is not in the best of neighborhoods the children do get bused there. As far as I know there has never been a problem with the school. Both High Tech and County Prep received awards for being in the top 10 schools in the nation just last year. You can check out the web site at HCSTonline.org.

Please keep in mind that not everyone who applies to these schools get accepted. GOOD LUCK TO ALL WHO APPLIES TO EITHER SCHOOL.

My son attends High Tech and loves it. If you are considering either school I urge everyone to attend both open houses. You are able to tour the schools and you will receive information that is not in the application. The two school tend to accept the top eight percent of students. These schools have the best teachers and none of the usual problems that Bayonne High has with their students. It is free and no uniforms. Guess they don't buy Patsy's idea that uniforms fix everything. Good luck to those who try.

Thanks! We went to High Tech and are planning to attend the County Prep open house too. We are applying to both.

Does County Prep need a portfolio like High Tech??

Thx

No County Prep does not need a portfolio. Look at their web-site it will tell you what the admission process is like. Just remember to get there early the line was very long.

We sent a portfolio to both schools and he was accepted into both in the first round. It surly cannot hurt and probably helps your child separate from the group. Keep in mind there is 1700 other families trying to get their children into the same schools. You need a way to distinguish your child from theirs. You should bet that all of the kids have great grades. This can help.
