Next Board of Ed Meeting

Does anyone know when the next meeting is?

May 28th @ 8PM. The Board usually begins the non-public meeting at 7PM, then votes at PM.

The PS 14 PTO is planning to plea before the board not to shut down the 4th grade Gifted and Talented program.

It is my understanding that the PTO did not "organize" a group to speak. There are various parents who are concerned however, and some raised questions at the last general meeting to gain a better understanding of the BOE decision. They stated that they will attend the next board meeting.

For once I agree with the school board. 14 school should not be a gifted and talented school because it has been bastardized into a school for the connected. Those children are not getting the education everyone has been told they should be getting. They are getting beat by other children in the district for the truly great schools. This tells you that these children are either not getting the education the should be getting, or that they are not that great a student to begin with, or some combination of both. I expect to see the school lose the fifth through eight as the now fourth graders move through the system.
